Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

Beth Gamble

Senior Systems Analyst

I am a computer scientist at NMNH and a part of the Digital Stewardship Team within the Informatics and Data Science Center. My job is helping to manage the museum's Research and Collections Information System (RCIS) known as EMu. Our system manages important details regarding the collection’s specimens and objects, which can then be shared with researchers and the public around the world. I love this work because it’s a backdoor view into the breadth and scale of the museum’s collections and the wider natural world.
