Laura Florez bends a flexible rock! Notice the curve in this side profile of the itacolumite specimen. The sandstone is interbedded with mica, creating a flexible mixture. It was quarried from the aptly named site: Bending Mountain, N.C. The rock was used for curved garden benches in the Victorian era.

Lightning Strike! Morgan Little presents a fulgurite. Sand fulgurites are produced when lightning strikes a sandy beach, fusing the individual grains together, forming tubular samples like this one.
