Dear National Science Foundation,
I would like to thank you for funding my summer research internship at one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. For most of my life, I have aspired for an opportunity such as this. I still cannot believe that I am an intern at the National Museum of Natural History. I recall uncountable memories where I have read articles and stories published by some unrecognized yet commendable author, and my drive to understand the intellect behind such a literal feat. Now as I rush down the corridor leading to the office of my RTP advisor, Dr. Neal Woodman, I speedily stroll pass five doors posted with names I have read time after time. The experience is one I will remember always.
I had an opportunity to meet some of today's leading scientists in their fields and they made me feel as if I were as experienced as they were. My advisor was exceptionally kind; sharing personal stories of self-endeavors as well as encouraging me to "see life through the eyes of a scientist". He helped me when I was lost in my research and guided me to the path of true understanding natural science.
I would like to thank you for everything: for funding my research, for funding my travel to the Annual Meeting of Mammalogists in Arcata, California, (which was a remarkable opportunity to interact with renowned Mammalogists and students in mammalogy), and for allowing me to enjoy an unforgettable summer. Once again, I thank you and ask that you continue to fund inspired students in the pursuit of happiness in the field of science.
Sincerely,
James J. Morgan
