A Molecular Study of Three Species of Nemertines

Genomic DNA was isolated from three believed conspecific transatlantic pairs of Nemertines. PCR amplifications were optimized to yield 28S and 16S rDNA. Once amplified, the gene was radioactively tagged, run on an acrylamide gel, and exposed to X-ray film. Ultimately, the sequence of the gene will be read off of these films. A possible size discrepancy between L. sanguineus and L. socialis may be indicative that the two populations are not conspecific.
