An Evaluation of Insect-Mediated Herbivory in an Upper Pennsylvanian Flora

Most of the diversity on land is due to insects and plants, and man is doing his best to destroy that diversity. It is up to the few people who do care about the future of our planet to attempt to understand how this threatened diversity originated, and in so doing, learn how to preserve it. Contrary to popular belief, insect herbivory exists and is prevalent in the Upper Pennsylvanian. This will be useful in evaluations of modern insect and plant communities.

This research was supported by a grant from the James Smithson Society.
