Description of a new species of Pantinonemertes

This research involved a morphological and histological study of a new species of Pantinonementes. It was determined that this is a new species and measurements are being taken in order to describe the species. This study involved anesthetizing live specimens, embedding them in paraffin, sectioning the paraffin blocks and staining slides. After making the slides and staining them, tissue and organs were observed under the light microscope. Notes were made on all new and/or modified structures. Measurements are also being made to do size comparisons.

This research was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program ( Award: DIR-9200203).
