A review of the genera Bidens and Oparanthus in southeastern Polynesia

This project was of a taxonomic nature and concerned the disposition of the genus Oparanthus. Data was compiled which supports the argument for the restoration of the genus Oparanthus. Publication of this analysis will include two new combinations: Oparanthus hivonaus and O. teikitectinii. This project is part of a larger project on the flora of the Marquesas. The last flora of this region was published in 1935, and the taxonomic problems which led to this project originated from this work.

This research was supported by a grant from the Smithsonian Women's Committee.
