Isozyme Electrophoresis of Heliconias

Assistance was provided to Dr. Kress and Cheryl Roesel in the electrophoresis lab. Dr. Kress is studying breeding systems of Heliconia using starch-gel electophoresis. Duties included general lab upkeep: cleaning of glassware, chemical staining, making gel and electrode buffers, making wicks, and, occasionally, pouring gels.

Additional work was done in the greenhouse, on two databases, with specimens collected in the field, and with the botany wet collections.

This research was supported by a grant from the Educational Outreach Fund.
