"This internship gave me a good understanding of what a botany career is all about--something that cannot be attained in a classroom setting."

Gesneriaceae Projects

This project involved working with photographs from the type negative collection belonging to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois. Specifically, using lists of Gesneriaceae type negatives from Field Museum's database TAXACOVE, a search was completed in the U.S. herbarium for photographs made from the negatives which we already had. Then using literature sources, corrections were made as to collector, collection number, date, herbarium, status of type, location, and name currently filed under. These corrections were then on the Gesneriaceae list within a file.

This research was supported by a grant from the Educational Outreach Fund.
