Bromeliads of the Guianas This
project concerned the validation of the subspecies of Parrya
nudicaulis regel, which is known to have differences
in its chromosome number. Pollen grains were examined as proxy for
chromosome numbers as increases in nuclear volume, which means that
distinct size classes of pollen grains could be the result of different
numbers of chromosomes. This research was supported by a grant from the Educational Outreach Fund. |
