Flora of the Guianas Processing

The flora of the Guianas project is an ongoing research project aimed at documenting the Flora of French Guiana, Dutch Guiana, and Guiana. Field collectors will move into various localities in these countries and collect specimens to be shipped to the Smithsonian Institution for processing. Processing involves correlating the collections with collector number, pulling the collection, sending it to specialists for identification, pulling loans for other institutions, exchanging specimens for identification, typing labels, etc. Cutting wood samples and distributing them to other institutions for references and determinations was also necessary.
