Projects in Commelinaceae

This project involved an inventory of all the live Commelinaceae plants living in the greenhouse. All of the information had been previously collected, except for data on seeds and vouchers. All of the seed and voucher information was entered into a computer database and a printout was produced. Next, several hundred unmounted voucher specimens were processed.

This research project also included an investigation of a species from China: Spatelicion longifolium, that was grown from seed and is now living in the Botany greenhouse. This species has never been described. Through this research, the seedlings were observed as they grew and their morphology was studied.
