Dear National Science Foundation,

My name is John Hammond and I am a mathematics teacher employed at Anacostia Senior High School. I was very honored to be chosen by Mary Sangrey and Richard Thorington for a RET position at the Smithsonian Institution.

The experience has been very exciting and rewarding at the National Museum of Natural History. My research advisor, Richard Thorington has provided me with hands on experience with specimens that will be helpful in my classroom. The data that I collected can be implemented into several lesson plans.

Once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in designing this program. The support from this experience will help me as a teacher and an individual to keep new and innovative ideas in the classroom. From the generous financial support to the exciting tours and presentations at the Smithsonian, I give sincere appreciation.

Sincerely,

John Hammond
