Internship Community

In 2007 a total of 244 internship appointments were recorded by the National Museum of Natural History, including 210 appointments succesfully completed, 29 appointments carrying over to 2008, and 5 whose registered internship was terminated, not successfully completed or declined.

The following is a list of students selected for internship positions at Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. This list includes the student's name, the affiliated institution during their internship, the title of the internship project, the name of the supervisor/sponsoring NMNH staff, the assigned NMNH unit/office in which the internship was conducted, and the dates of the appointment.

Intern Statistics for FY 07

Although most of our reporting is based on calendar year, the Museum also follows a fiscal year (FY 07: 1 Oct 06 to 31 Sep 07) for annual reporting as well. From 1 Oct 06 to 31 Dec 06 an additional to 18 internship appointments were recorded at NMNH. For FY 07 there were a total of 239 internship appointments recorded by the National Museum of Natural History, including 4 whose registered internship was terminated, not successfully completed or declined. During FY 07 interns contributed 77,322 hours, an increase of almost 20,000 hours (19, 230) over last years contributed hours of 58,092 hours. There were 203 new internship appointments started (registered) during FY 07. There were 34 appointments that carried over from FY 07 to FY 08.
