ENROLLMENT

Enrollment in the Research Training Program is by annual competitive application. The application cycle begins February 2 and concludes February 1 of the following year. Application materials may be received anytime during the application cycle.

Due to the nature of the selection procedure, advance placement and deferred participation is not possible.

Foreign students (in-country and international) selected for participation in the program are responsible for obtaining their own visa. If necessary, assistance is available from the Smithsonian's Office of International Affairs after selection.

Those who are selected for a position will automatically be enrolled into the Research Training Program. Formal registration will be held the first week of the program.

COST

Students selected for a position in the Research Training Program are provided an award package to support their participation.

The Smithsonian assumes no direct costs or tuition - there is no cost charged to students participating in this program.
