Behind-the-Scenes Tour
Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars

Monday, 4 August 2003. We hosted 50 high school students - Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars - for several hours of behind-the-scenes tours featuring our research and collections.

Students joined Dave Hunt for a tour of the mummies and shrunken heads in the East basement; John Brown for an adventure through the entomology collections; Suzie Peurach showed her group interesting specimens from the mammals collections; Dinosaurs were featured on the tour through Paleobiology with Bob Purdy; Lesley Hale showed her group some interesting rocks and ores; and Tim McCoy opened cabinets holding the meteorites.

After a viewing of the 3-D IMAX film "Bugs!" more behind-the-scenes were featured. The group learned about invertebrates from Cindy Ahearn; fish with Susan Jewett; Sally Love brought her group to the Insect Zoo; Mike Wise opened the mineral and gem vault for a special viewing; and Dave Hunt led his group through a mystery of what human bones can tell.
