Only
official representatives of LSAMP
Centers
could apply for participation in the LSAMP at the Smithsonian '01 Winter Workshop.
Each Center could nominate one team, composed of one student and one administrative
representative. Centers could also designate an alternate team (student
and representative) nomination.
Students:
student nominee applicants had to be freshman or sophomore level US citizens
currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an educational institution
affiliated with the LSAMP Center.
Center
Representatives: center nominee applicants had to be part of the administrative
or teaching staff of the nominating LSAMP Center or affiliated partner organization.
Preference was given to those staff or faculty interested in, and/or
with duties and responsibilities to, recruit minority students for undergraduate
or graduate education and research opportunities in the SMET disciplines.
We were looking for people who regularly connected with the student population
and individuals interested in working with Smithsonian administrative and scientific
staff to shape the future of the LSAMP at the Smithsonian.
THE
APPLICATION PROCEDURE - for

Representatives had to:
1.
Check Workshop
Summary for
information and requirements.
2.
Select a Scientist
to Shadow.
3.
Prepare a Cover
Letter.
4.
Prepare the Application
Form.
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION SUBMISSION- for LSAMP Center Directors
The Nomination Procedure
1.
Obtain the Application Identification Number of the center nominee.
2. Prepare and submit a letter
of recommendation
confirming the nomination of the student/representative team.

Review current
application status.
