Application Process Summary

All information and application materials for the Research Training Program are posted at this web site. Information details about the current session are posted in the RTP Information Section.

There is no need to request or submit paper copies. The RTP review and selection process is completely automated. Applicants are required to obtain and submit ALL application materials electronically.

RTP Application Check List
  1. Check requirements - (program dates, application deadlines, etc.).
  2. Select a Project Advisor: review posted information - and - advisor list.
  3. Prepare a Cover Letter: review posted information - and - on-line form.
  4. Prepare the RTP Application Form: review posted information - and - on-line form.
  5. Select two References: review information - and - on-line recommendation form.
  6. Monitor application status.

Medical Insurance Requirement

Beginning with the '04 session, students selected for participation in the Research Training Program MUST provide proof of their enrollment, and coverage in the DC area, of medical insurance in case of accident or injury.



Currently Enrolled Undergraduate Status:

To be eligible for a position in the Research Training Program, students MUST be currently enrolled undergraduate students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Graduating Seniors (students who will be graduating just prior to the start of the summer program) and students who have recently graduated (within one year) are no longer eligible for placement.

High school students, graduate students, and students who have completed their Master's or Ph.D. are not eligible for this program
