Sample project:  What are the species limits in the Poa subg. Andinae? What are the best characteristics to differentiate among these closely related species? Poa subg. Andinae Nicora is a group of gynodioecious individuals with large stamens that currently consists of six (P. andina Trin., P. borchersii Phil., P. erinacea Speg., P. pungionifolia Speg., P. robusta Steud., and P. stepparia Nicora) poorly differentiated species that occur in Argentina and Chile. A leaf-blade anatomical survey and a scanning electron microscopy study of the florets are necessary to gather more characters for a numerical analysis and eventual cladistic analysis of this group.
