Conservation of Birds

As with many types of organisms, large numbers of bird species are today at risk of extinction. Below is a list of some sources of information about the status of the world's birds, and sites of some organizations working to conserve wild birds.

Conservation status of birds

Bird conservation organizations

Please note that the Ornithological Council itself is not a conservation organization. The OC helps make scientific information about birds available to policymakers, and it assists ornithologists in procedures (such as permitting) that relate to the study of birds, but the organization does not engage in lobbying on conservation issues.

Other conservation organizations

The organizations below address conservation broadly. Their work includes a focus on birds to varying degrees.
